You Can Help Send The Best Birthday Present Ever!

To celebrate my upcoming 70th birthday, I ran the 114th Boston Marathon® on April 19th to raise money for Perkins School for the Blind. I have set a personal goal to raise $100,000 to support braille literacy.

Since 1960, the braille literacy rate has dropped from 50% to 12%. Imagine if only one out of every eight school-age children knew how to read and write. That staggering statistic is a sad reality in the blind and visually impaired community. A study conducted by the American Foundation for the Blind reported that of the people who are blind and employed, 80% are braille literate.

How Can You Help?

Give a special birthday gift to the over 114,000 children and adults who are blind, deafblind or visually impaired with or without other disabilities that the Perkins School for the Blind impacts around the world in more than 60 countries. Founded in 1829 and notably the school of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, Perkins School for the Blind is the nation’s first school for the visually impaired.

Your tax-deductible gift will be matched 100% by me to increase the impact of your generosity. Together, we can increase the number of people in the U.S. and worldwide who have access to the world of knowledge through braille, opening the doors to the possibility of employment and making a positive contribution to our communities.

The extraordinary transformation that children at Perkins experience every day is because of the support they receive from friends like you. Together, let’s make the most generous birthday gift possible for Perkins, and thanks for caring and sharing.

Bill,
Hey I'll be proud of you if you just finish. Also, immediately after you complete the marathon, while you're exhausted, let's play tennis so I can have the chance of taking back that valuable trophy.

Bill, We are so inspired by the beauty of the goals you set for yourself. We never stop learning from you what is important in life and the dedication it takes to achieve it. May it be twice 'ki tov' - as was said of the 3rd day of creation, and a 'hai' to boot.
